what we do

Suits, dresses, jackets, scarves, formal wear, shirts, fine blouses, bedding… Smart Guys Dry Cleaners can take care of everything from your most delicate garments to every day laundry and household textiles. We treat each garment by hand using our wealth of knowledge in stain treatments, fabrics and designer brands.

We are committed to a providing a greener, more ecologically friendly approach and we have recently invested in new equipment and machinery. This includes our Ozone cabinet, killing viruses, allergens and bacteria. It also removes any odours and leaves items smelling clean and fresh – ideal for trainers, push chair covers, bike helmets etc.

The investment into the latest equipment and greener detergents enable us to offer more gentle and environmentally friendly options to handle stubborn stains and odours. Dry cleaning

We use newly developed HiGlo as our dry cleaning solvent, a 100% biodegradable and an environmentally-friendly alternative to perchloroethylene. This gentler solution has an excellent cleaning effect to tackle dirt and stains but is gentle on the fabric and protects against colour fade with a light pleasant smell.

For everyday wear, the finish is exceptional and for your luxury items, you know you are receiving the best care with a solvent provided by the British company Cole and Wilson in association with Christeyns – both market leading, long established companies within our sector.

Wet cleaning

Wet cleaning machines work at much lower temperatures than traditional dry cleaning, so they are much more gentle on fibres. Cycles are individually set based on the type of fabric or garment, be it wool, lace, silk etc.

A number of fashion houses, such as Hugo Boss, are opting for this environmentally friendly option. This process is suitable for most of your items, and is usually the best way to gently clean and extend the life of expensive clothing such as designer hoodies. Leaving a fresh smell and a beautiful, soft handle.

It is also incredibly good at removing water-based stains and odours. Items that were previously difficult or even impossible items to clean like beaded items, printed silk and very delicate items, are often now be able to be cleaned.

Laundry

We offer a convenient full laundry service, priced by the load. Suitable for your everyday laundry, we will wash your garments using environmentally friendly detergents, dry, iron and then folded or hung with care.

Suitable items such as bedlinen and towels are folded and packed into our re-usable bags, while shirts, polo and t-shirts are hung and put into either our re-usable bags (if using the service regularly) or biodegradable poly bags wherever possible.

All loads, whether it be small or large loads are undertaken to the very high standard. Hand-packed, fresh and finished to an exemplary standard.

Ironing

We also offer a comprehensive ironing service from shirts, trousers and bedding.

Our shirt service includes the option of hanging or folded for your convenience.

Our bedding service covers all sizes from single to emperor (pillow cases, sheets and duvet covers).

Wedding and formal wear

We know how important your wedding and evening attire is, and every consideration is taken in providing the care and attention your garments deserve. We handle all sorts of fabrics and can give advice on how we achieve the best results for you.

Dry cleaning of wedding dresses is a very delicate process, and if you are storing your special dress away we highly recommend upgrading your packaging to our preservation box. These boxes protect your wedding dress from atmospheric elements. We pack the box with PH neutral, acid free tissue paper to ensure discolouration does not occur.

Evening gowns, designer cocktail dresses and evening suits, can be just as financial and sentimentally valuable. For those gowns that make a rare appearance every year or so we would once again recommend upgrading your packaging to our preservation boxes.

Curtains and furnishings

Our services even stretch to cleaning soft furnishings such as curtains and sofa covers/carcasses. Unfortunately over time, our household textiles will accumulate dust, dirt and other stuff you don’t want in your home. No matter the material, our experts will always clean according to their specific care label instructions and then finish them by hand.

For orders over £25, make the most of our free collection and delivery service so you do not need to worry about transporting these heavy items for cleaning.

As we have found requirements differ greatly from customer to customer, prices are POA so please contact us to discuss your needs.

Repairs and alterations

Whether you have a pair of trousers that need taking in or shortened, coats or shirts that need sleeves shortening or a pesky hole or tear that has appeared in your favourite garment, let us take care of it.

Our usual turnaround for repairs and alterations is 48 – 72 hours (excludes weekends) and these are performed off-site.
